This was one of the fifty to carry Leyland bodywork from the batch of 83 which entered service in 1939/40, the remainder being built by Crossley(2) or Crossley on Metro Cammell frames(31).

Manchester 4357, GNB491, Daimler COG5 with English Electric H28/26R body in Picaddilly Bus Station. This batch suffered due to the war and, although 33 were ordered, only 15 were delivered as complete vehicles with 4357 entering service in October 1940 and being withdrawn in March 1959.

Manchester 4265, GNC60, Daimler COG5 - Metro Cammell H28/26R at Warwick Road, Old Trafford was from a batch of 83 vehicles ordered. Due to the war only 58 chassis were delivered with bodywork split between Metro Cammell and English Electric - the other chassis were destroyed by enemy action at the Daimler works before delivery.

Manchester 2183, KNA623, seen at Levenshulme (Lloyd Road) was a Crossley H32/26R bodied Crossley DD42/8S new in 1949. The tracks & shelter remain in place from the tram service abandoned in January 1949. The building on the left housed offices for the transport department.

Manchester 2214, KNA654, Crossley DD42/8S with Crossley H32/26R body in Piccadilly Bus Station. The third batch of Crossleys delivered after the war consisted of sixty vehicles (2160-2219) and 2214-2219 were fitted with saloon heaters (not common at that date).

A batch of 100 vehicles, Manchester's first PD2s, was delivered in 1950/51 with four entering service in 1952. 3200-3264 had Metro Cammell bodies of standard post-war Manchester design whilst 3265-3299 which were delivered first had the flush mounted windows of the standard Leyland Farington body.

A Standard Vanguard passes by and a Burlingham bodied half-cab coach creeps into the background. New in 1954 this bus passed to Selnec in 1969 along with the other eighty-nine in the batch.

Just four months old when this was taken, 3445 was from the batch of 60 Orion bodied vehicles delivered in 1956, all surviving to pass to Selnec in 1969.
