Huddersfield 623, KVH223 a BUT 9641T with East Lancs H40/32R body new in 1956.
It is seen here on the final day of trolleybus operation at the Outlane terminus 909ft above sea level and the second highest trolleybus terminus in the UK. The highest was in the neighbouring Halifax trolleybus system at Mount Tabor at over 1000ft but that was only in operation for about 4 years in the 1920s.
623 is carrying the official party of civic dignitaries. The other trolleybus I think would be sister BUT 629. On the right is preserved ex Huddersfield JOC 217, CCX777 a 1945 Daimler CWA6 with Duple lowbridge body.
The car with the Huddersfield fleetname is inspectors car A2, CCX894B a 1964 Austin A60 Countryman.
Whilst Huddersfield's larger service vehicles carried the Post Office red and Primrose of the bus fleet the smaller vehicles, such as vans and cars were painted maroon with a black roof.
