Seen on Epsom Downs on Derby Day are two Thomas, West Ewell rebuilt and rebodied A.E.C. Reliances. HPG650V was previously EJP561F (6MU4R6594), new in 1968 to Smith, Wigan with a Plaxton Panorama I C44F body, the chassis of which was rebuilt by Thomas in 1979 with chassis number ETS15779, before being rebodied in 1979 with the Plaxton Supreme IV C53F body seen here.
After withdrawal HPG650V passed to Pace (Zarb Coaches), Malta registered Y-0884 in April 1986, later being registered DBY333. Its companion here, OPD789W (2U3RA6096), which had been KHM2D (Willowbrook DP49F - British European Airways 8201, later C201 of British Airways Board), had the chassis rebuilt by Thomas in 1980 with chassis number ETS19980, before being rebodied in 1981 with the Plaxton Supreme IV C53F body seen here. It was withdrawn in November 1989 and seems to have vanished.
British Airways Board had sold three of these, KHM2D, KHM5D, KHM6D at Frimley Car Auctions in July 1974, with them passing to British Caledonian Airways, Gatwick who subsequently withdrew them in January 1979. All three then passed to Thomas c8/79 in his dealing capacity with KHM5D passing to Austin (?), Dorking and KHM6D to Snelson, Northolt in October 1979. Thomas kept the third one and had it rebodied after rebuilding the chassis.
