Huddersfield Corporation, ex Hanson 375.
New to Hanson in 1949 as 287, ECX416 it was an AEC Regent III 9612E with Roe H31/26R body.
Withdrawn in June 1962 it re-emerged in April 1963 after rebuild, which included new chassis frames, as 375, XVH133 with a new Roe H37/28F body. It proved to be Hanson's last double decker.
It is seen here in early Corporation days, probably December '69 to February '70, going by the snow on the ground, blasting through what was known to us local enthusiasts as "T'hole in't wall". And I mean "blasting".
There was a bus shelter about 30 yards behind 375 but if Hanson's didn't have to stop there they would literally fly through the gap and heaven help any car coming in the opposite direction!
The location is actually Slades Lane in the hamlet of Helme. It was, and still is a narrow twisting lane that descended from Blackmoorfoot Reservoir down through Helme to join Helme Lane on its journey to Meltham.
The building on the left is Helme Manor House whilst the building on the right is a barn belonging to the adjacent farm.
Nothing has changed to this day apart from the lack of buses!
