Grimsby-Cleethorpes Roe bodied Crossley 164, HBE542, waits in Grimsby to make yet another journey between the two towns.
The picture was taken in the winter of 1959-60, before the closure of the system the following summer. It was new as Cleethorpes 64 in 1951
After closure, this particular bus was sold to Walsall, where it ran as no 873. It was latterly the subject of an ambitious attempt to convert it to diesel-electric power.
This image was recovered from a very badly damaged negative with the help of Google's latest AI in Gemini. With careful attention, this looks as if it will bring back to life many otherwise unrecoverable images.
