Armstrong of Westerhope, Newcastle operated several double deckers, all smartly presented in this attractive livery. Former London Transport RTL669, KXW19, is a 1950 Leyland 7RT with Metro-Cammell H30/26R bodywork.

WJO184 is a 1955 Park Royal L30/26RD bodied AEC Regent Mk.V MD3RV. New to City of Oxford Motor Service, it saw service with Pinnington of Crook, before coming to Armstrong of Westerhope, as depicted here.

City of Oxford L184, WJO184, was the middle bus of a trio of AEC Regent V MD3RVs with Park Royal L30/26R or L30/26RD bodies new in 1955 or 1956, the continued use of exposed radiator was quite unusual.

HCN551 was a Bedford D4LZ1 with Plaxton C29F bodywork which had been new to Thirlwell, Gateshead in 1958, passing to Bell’s of Stamfordham in February 1965. It is seen with Armstrong’s of Westerhope who acquired it in January 1968.

Armstrong of Westerhope, Newcastle purchased HDJ744, an AEC Regent Mk.V D3RV with Weymann H33/28R body, from St Helens, where it was numbered J144. It was new in 1958.

We Northeasterners can home it on an exile miles away, even if it means ignoring the charms of a sunny Harrington coach adjacent. ANL806B was a AEC Reliance 2MU3RA with Plaxton Panorama C41F new in February 1964 as Armstrong, Westerhope 136, the first of three.
