Eastern National 1397, UEV842, a Bristol KSW5G with ECW L27/28R body, new in 1952 to Westcliff (although by then Westcliff buses were being registered in Essex rather than Southend).
UEV842, renumbered as 2354 in1964, was withdrawn in July 1969. It was reported as being quickly sold to Smaller of Barton-on-Humber.
From my memory of the time, the routes to the villages to the east of Southend were wholly worked by the Corporation as part of the co-ordination scheme with Eastern National but this photo shows memories can be misleading.
