In this view former London Transport GS40, MXX340, is seen in the West Midlands PTE version of the West Bromwich livery, the letter H below the number indicating West Bromwich.
I believe it was initially restored in that livery because it had been the last bus in service in the old West Bromwich colours.
It is a Guy Special with ECW B26F body and seen at the Sandwell Rally.
According to Ian's Bus Stop it was new in November 1953 and was sold to West Bromwich Corporation in January 1961. It was initially a welfare bus numbered 49 and then joined the main fleet in 1963 numbered 252. This explains why the number is not adacent to the other GS bought by West Bromwich at the same time (233: MXX341) which went straight into the passenger fleet. In PTE days 252 was latterly used by the staff sports department as seen in the 1973 photo.
