Southend 218, BHJ742, with a Duple L53R body, the first numerically of 18 utility Daimler CWA6s received by Southend between 1943 and 1945.
218 entered service on 2 October 1943, was sold for scrap in May 1957 having covered just under 450,000 miles in service.
This photo shows 218 with its original destination blind layout - the other photo of 218 on the site shows it with the three part blinds fitted for the extra routes covered when the co-ordination agreement with Eastern National started in 1955.
