Portsmouth Corporation Tramways 94 was a United Electric Car Company open-top 22/32 seat car on a Brill 21E truck dating from 1907. It is seen at the Cosham tram terminus compound about to depart for Palmerston Road on the anticlockwise 9 circular.

Unseen to the left would have been the tracks of the Portsdown & Horndean Tramway which crossed over the Portsmouth-Southampton railway on their own bridge to avoid the at-grade level crossing seen in this view. We also see what looks to be a Portsmouth Corporation Brush-bodied Karrier WL6/2. This bus, and the picture house poster on the far right, dates this view to circa 1927/28. This route from the city was the first tram line to be replaced by trolleybuses in October 1934, but, remarkably, the Portsdown & Horndean Tramway continued operating this line (and beyond to Waterlooville) until January 1935 when Southdown took over the service.

This postcard was mailed in 1941 and the writer says "It's better staying here (Cosham) than in Portsmouth right now." no doubt referring to the recent air raids that year.
