Leeds 'Horsfield' tram 253, seen in Dewsbury Road, at the Cross Linden Terrace stop, was the last but one of the hundred trams built in 1930/1 by Brush on Peckham P35 trucks.
It seated 37 (2 + 1) in the upper saloon and 23 (1 + 2) in the lower saloon.
It will be noticed that intending passengers are making their way into the road ready to board, before the tram has reached the stop, the flag being attached to the post, and that a passenger is on the lower step preparing to alight. Meanwhile a van crosses to the wrong side of the road to overtake, instead of waiting for the nearside portion of the road to be clear!
