Stanhope Motor Services acquired CCK831, formerly Ribble 2659, which was a 1949 Leyland PD2/3 with Leyland H30/26R bodywork.

EX6562 was a Leyland PD2/1 with a Leyland H30/26R body new in 1949 as Great Yarmouth 62. In October 1966 it passed to Stanhope Motor Services with whom it is seen here in Stanhope Market Place with a party of school children.

In October 1966, Great Yarmouth sold two Leyland-bodied PD2/1s to Weardale Motor Services for £300 each. These were 62 (EX6562), new in November 1949, and 68 (EX6568), new in April 1950.

Making its way up New Bank in Halifax, as it heads for Harrogate on the Trans-Pennine Rally, is preserved Weardale Motor Services KPT909, a Leyland PD2/1 with a Leyland L27/26R body.

Stanhope Motor Services LPT124 started life in 1949 with an A.C.B. B35F body. It was rebodied in April 1962 with the A.C.B. C33F body which had been removed from PS2 KUP435 in 1958 when that was rebodied as a double decker. The new combination is seen here at Stanhope.

Stanhope Motor Services YUP6 was a Leyland PD2/10C with a Roe H37/28RD body. It had been new in 1949 as Stanhope L11, a Leyland PS2/3, registered KUP435, with an Associated Coachbuilders C33F body. The chassis was rebuilt with a new chassis frame, given a new chassis number, and rebodied in May 1958.

Stanhope Motor Services YUP6. Originally new to SMS in 1949 as a Leyland Tiger PS2/3 with ACB C33F body, its chassis was rebuilt with new PD2 frames and redesignated as a PD2/10C, then rebodied with this Roe H37/28RD body in 1958.

Weardale Motor Services 6BUP was a Leyland PD3/1 with Alexander H42/31F bodywork which dated from March 1959. Its rather angular styling (not particularly apparent in this photograph) was almost identical to the four bodies built for Edinburgh Corporation PD3/3s (261-264) which were supplied in the same year and which were sold to Highland Omnibuses in 1974.

Stanhope Motor Services 272GUP was a Bedford SB8 with Plaxton Consort IV C41F bodywork. In later years this coach found its way to Ellis Coaches of Llangefni on the Isle of Anglesey (Ynys Mon).

Barton 1129, FUP272C, was a shrewd 1969 acquisition from Stanhope Motor Services. New in 1965, the Willowbrook DP49F bodied AEC 2U3RA Reliance was still in its former owner’s livery when photographed in Morecambe a year after acquisition.
