LYR851, formerly RT3432, and now with Bedlington & District is seen on their parking area opposite the depot. It was new to LT Country Area in January 1952; after withdrawal in April 1972 it was sold to Passenger Vehicle Sales (Canvey Island).

Bedlington & District, Ashington, HAP986 was a Bristol KSW6G built in July 1953 with ECW H32/28R bodywork purchased in July 1969 along with JAP500.

4. MLL838
MLL838, formerly RT3528, was new to LT (Country Area) in May 1953. It was acquired by Samuel Ledgard in November 1963; it was acquired by WYRCC in October 1967 when Ledgard's sold out but wasn't operated by them. During the early 70s it was used on City Sightseeing Tours but is pictured in the ownership of Bedlington & District. By this time it had been fitted with platform doors.

NLE830, formerly RT3723, in service for Bedlington & District. It was new in May 1953 and served in LT's Country Area until withdrawal in August 1970.

Bedlington & District, Ashington NLE830 was an AEC Regent III with Weymann H30/26R new at London Transport as RT3723 in May 1953 in the Country Area.

Bedlington & District RTC700 was an ex-Lancashire United Guy Arab IV which had a Northern Counties H31/26R body. When seen at Ashington it had obviously seen better days!

United Auto BUT12, UHN348, was a Bristol LS6B with ECW C39F body new in June 1954 and ran in "Tyne-Tees-Thames" olive & cream livery. It was renumbered UT12 in November 1964 and sold to dealer North of Sherburn-in-Elmet in January 1968. Two months later it came to the operator shown here, Bedlington & District of Ashington.

Bedlington & District 996CHN was new to United in May 1957 as BGS8 before general renumbering to GS8 in November 1964. It was a Bristol LL5G with ECW FB39C to the Queen Mary design but with bus seats. The chassis was extended and rebuilt from GHN991 an L5G with fleet number BLO191 later BG205, the body was 8ft wide hence broader than the chassis.

Bedlington & District, Ashington 281DWN was a rare bird, ex South Wales 257 (originally 37), an AEC Regent V 2D3RA with Roe B37F body new in 1963 and withdrawn sometime late in 1972.

Who let that littl'un in here? Former South Wales Transport 38, 282DWN, is dwarfed by the massed ranks of second-hand (sometimes third or fourth-hand) RTs on a foggy day in Ashington. It was an AEC Regent V with low-height Roe B37F bodywork, one of eight similar vehicles purchased by SWT to operate principally on the routes in the New Dock area of Llanelli where some of the bridges have as little as 9' clearance.
