West Yorkshire took delivery of its last Bristol MWs in March 1967, which came in the shape of three ECW C39F-bodied MW6Gs (CUG46-48: NWW735E-NWW737E) allocated to Harrogate depot for use on excursions from the Low Harrogate coach stances on St Mary's Walk. The trio became 1086-1088 in the October 1971 renumbering, and 1086 (aka CUG46) is seen here in later days wearing National white livery.
All had fixed glazing and forced air ventilation, as well as having shallower front domes and deeper windscreens, which combined with a straight rather than stepped waistrail and a lack of cant rail glasses, made for a sleeker look. CUG46-48 were part of the last sanction of MW production (the 233rd), having chassis numbers 233.144, 233.145 and 233.146 respectively. The last chassis of all (233.165) went to Western National becoming its 1436 (HDV641E).
Sadly 1086-1088 were all withdrawn in September 1978 and all went for scrap. Please pass the Kleenex somebody....
