The products of AEC did not figure greatly in the Walsall Corporation fleet. Between 1931 and 1961, when ten Regent V 2D2RAs were purchased, with the body order equally split between Metro-Cammell and Willowbrook, only two prototypes - a 7.7 litre Regent V in 1954 and a Bridgemaster in 1956 - were bought new.
898MDH, one of the 1961 Regents with a Willowbrook H41/31F body, was in Cannock Bus Station when this picture was taken on 2nd June 1973. By then it had been with West Midlands P.T.E. for over three and a half years, but was still displaying Walsall's fairly uninspiring livery. It only had a few months of life left, as it had been withdrawn by the end of 1973.
