Tynemouth 214, FT9414, a 1956 Park Royal bodied Guy Arab IV, is about to be "jumped" by a trio of 1949, formerly Meadows 6DC engined, Guy Arab IIIs.
As in so many other fleets, although very powerful, the Meadows 6DC was found wanting in other ways. In Tynemouth's case all apart from one, 169, were fitted with pre war AEC 7.7 litre engines from withdrawn pre war stock. 169 was fitted with a Gardner 5LW.
