Tynemouth 205, FT9005, a 1955 Metro Cammell Orion bodied Guy Arab IV, with as Ronnie H. eludes to "more rattles than Mothercare".
The open bonnet side was somewhat typical of north east based Guy Arabs. On a Gardner engine the hot exhaust is on the offside of the engine, in summer this could make the cabs hot. I always thought that the open bonnet side was an attempt to dissipate this heat. But I have since learned that the exposed radiator Arab IV had weak bonnet catches and this may have been the real reason.
