Sunderland District 159, DPT848, is a Leyland Tiger TS8 with Roe B32F bodywork. It was new to the SDO in 1939 and was withdrawn in 1954.

Holder, Charlton-on-Otmoor EPT696 was a Roe H31/25R bodied Leyland TD7 new in 1940 as Sunderland District 173 which was acquired by April 1955 and which was scrapped after withdrawal in March 1961.

Sunderland District, Philadelphia received six single-deck buses in 1950. 221, JUP841, was a Leyland PS2/1 with a Roe B32F body and is seen near the Roe works at Manston Lane, Crossgates.

OUP660 was a Leyland PSUC1/1T Tiger Cub with a Saro B44F body which had been new in September 1954 as Sunderland District 263.

Sunderland District 268, OUP665, a Leyland PSUC1/1 Tiger Cub with a Saro B44F body was one of sixteen, 258-273, delivered in 1954. 258-262 were fitted with Eaton 2-speed axles for the Consett service.

Sunderland District received thirteen Saro B44F bodied Leyland Tiger Cub PSUC1/1's in 1954 as part of a larger BET order. Considerd by many to be the most attractive of the early 50's designs, their appearance was enhanced by the lovely SDO livery. 270, OUP667, is seen laying over in Manors bus park with the blind set for the return jouney home.

Age before beauty??. Sunderland District 27?, PUP54?, waits at the level crossing on Philadelphia Lane for an NCB load of empty coal wagons. The unidentified PD2/12 was built in 1955 (3 years later than the loco) and had Metro-Cammel Orion H30/26R bodywork.
