In August 1975 this vehicle was hit by the jib of a crane whilst on service in Didsbury Rd, Heaton Mersey. The upper deck was quite badly damaged but even as a half-cab it was deemed worthy of repair, possibly because it would have recently received a new 6-year CoF. However when it re-entered service it had been fitted with some non-standard window pans on both decks and on both sides, and as such it became instantly recognisable.
