One of the more unusual buses to be seen at the Southend Transport garage was VTU76. It is a former Stalybridge, Hyde, Mossley & Dukinfield Electricity and Transport Joint Board Daimler CVG6DD with characteristic centre-entrance NCME body, new in 1956.
It had been preserved and the owner at the time was visiting Southend Transport and decided to take the bus so the family could come too!
Today, VTU76 is in the Keighley Bus Museum collection.
