Also making its debut at an event near its original home was SHMD 117, YLG717F, a very suitable candidate for the 1960s weekend in the series of events held at Boyle Street to commemorate 200 years of the bus.
The late afternoon sun provided a perfect opportunity to pose it alongside another newly-restored Bristol RESL6G, North Western 299, KJA299G, in a combination recreating the days when the bus from Uppermill on the 154 would connect with the bus from Micklehurst on the 154A at Mossley Post Office, as traffic levels didn't warrant both buses running through to Ashton.
117 was one of six Bristol RESL6Gs with Northern Counties B43F bodies new in 1967. 113-115 were registered WMA 113-115E and I believe the plan was for 116-118 to continue in the same series. However, they weren't registered until August and as a consequnce were given registrations YLG 716-718F. The whole batch became 5073-5078 under SELNEC and ran well into GMT days, not being withdrawn until the early 1980s.
