A very historic bus which surprisingly has not yet featured on the site is this, the very last half-cab bus new to a UK operator. Fittingly it is TTD386H, a Leyland Titan PD3/14 with East Lancs H41/32F body ordered by Ramsbottom UDC but in fact delivered in the first month of SELNEC's existence.
It is now preserved at the Museum of Transport in Manchester with its original fleet number 11 but as can be seen here, it was renumbered 6411 fairly quickly.
This chance shot has actually captured three of the five consituents of SELNEC (Northern) with Leigh and Rochdale not represented. Both the buses to the right are working the 52 service from Bury to Bolton via Radcliffe service and both have been renumbered in the SELNEC series but there is no evidence of the orange and white livery at this stage. 6343 was a Daimler Fleetline and has, like all three buses, an East Lancs body and was new as Bury 143. Behind it is a Bolton PD3 from the batch 113-122. It has an almost identical specification to the Ramsbottom bus, being on a PD3/4 chassis, but has a H41/33R body and is eleven years older!

The Art Cinema behind was opened in its present form in 1923. It ceased showing films in 1965 and was probably in use as a bingo hall at the time of my photograph. It still survives today, having been given a Grade II listing in 1995. Since 2009 it has been a Wetherspoons.
