RTF561L, Ribble 701, Leyland PSU5/4R with Alexander "M" type C46Ft body built in 1972 was the only "M" type coach purchased new outside the SBG companies. The design was primarily for overnight travel between Scotland and London, but on this day, 701 was pressed into service from Glasgow to Blackpool. Not even a brush stroke of Ribble red to be seen.
