A line up of derelicts plus a bare chassis in the yard of Provincial’s Hoeford depot. From left to right, 1 which was JX7048, 2 which was BUS107 and 33, ACN172. I defy anyone to identify the bare chassis!
JX7048 was new to Halifax in 1939, an AEC Regent with Park Royal body. It passed to PMT in 1952, and to Beckett of Bucknall later in the same year who fitted it with the radiator, bonnet and nearside front wing from London Transport STL1599. It served with Provincial between 1957 and 1959.
BUS107 was new to Glasgow in 1938, an AEC Regent with Weymann body, was bought by Procter of Hanley in May 1953 and served with Provincial from 1957 to 1960.
ACN172 was new to Northern General in 1946, an AEC Regent with NCB body. It was bought by Provincial after the fire in 1957 but only lasted a year as it was found to be suffering from rot. The chassis, however, was used as the basis for the AEC-Ruston rebuild 270MHO.
