1JVK, Newcastle 1, was one of twelve Leyland Atlantean PDR1/1 Mk II with Alexander H44/34F bodies new in 1963.
These were delivered in April and entered service in June, alongside a further 13 with Weymann H44/34F bodies, as trolleybus replacements.
On 1 January 1970 they were transferred to Tyneside PTE, being renumbered in July 1972, 1 becoming 101. On 1 April 1974 Tyneside PTE became Tyne & Wear PTE.

The thread on this site for the other photo of 1JVK refers to the registrations of both 1 and 2 JVK being retained by the PTE, initially for staff cars and, in 1983, for new coaches in the Armstrong Galley fleet.
