Neath & Cardiff Luxury Coaches were an unusual sight around Victoria Coach Station but RRC238 is seen here in Eccleston Place, Victoria, opposite the entrance to the Samuelson New Transport depot.
A Samuelson AEC Reliance with Duple Britannia centre entrance bodywork is parked behind. Although Samuelson's are but a distant memory, the depot remains in use as the main arrival point for coaches into Victoria Coach Station. RRC238 had been new as Trent 238 in May 1960, one of a batch of ten AEC Reliance 2MU3RA with Weymann 'Fanfare' C37F bodywork. It was renumbered 38 in March 1962 and passed to Neath and Cardiff in November 1966. The Neath and Cardiff operation was absorbed into South Wales Transport on 1 January 1971 and RRC238 duly transferred to South Wales at that time, but was withdrawn later in the same year. It passed, via W Norths (PV) Ltd (dealer), Sherburn in Elmet to H Camm, Chesterfield (non-psv), in August 1972 until being withdrawn, returned to Norths in March 1975 and sold for scrap in the May.
