Mexborough & Swinton Training Bus 39, JCD39, a Leyland Titan PD2/1 with Leyland H28/26R body, new in 1948 as Southdown 339.
It was acquired from Southdown in 1964 becoming M&S 20, and transferred to training duties as 39 in 1967. It passed with the M&S business to Yorkshire Traction in 1969 and was sold to Johnson, Goldthorpe for scrap in 1970.
The company acquired numerous secondhand vehicles over the years, and between 1961 and 1965 purchased 20 former Southdown Leyland buses and coaches, including two TD5's, four PD1's, two PD2/1's, four PD2/12's, three Beadle-Leyland coaches, and five Royal Tiger coaches. In 1966 they even borrowed two of Southdown's unloved Commer Avenger/Burlingham Seagulls for the season, but made sure they went back afterwards !
