WYPTE (Kirklees District) 874, 574CNW, a Daimler CVG6LX/30 with Roe H39/31F body. New to Leeds C.T. in 1962 (as 574, later 874).
It was one of a solitary batch of five forward-entrance halfcabs in an otherwise all rear-entrance halfcab fleet. They were purchased for use on the 72 service to Bradford in order to preserve uniformity with the forward-entrance AEC Mk. V's already used by Bradford C.T. on this joint service. LCT soon fell out with them and advertised them for sale but surprisingly there were no takers. Soon after the takeover by WYPTE in 1974 the five were transferred to Kirklees District (Huddersfield) where it was felt they would fit in with their own similar types. Whilst some initial confusion reigned as to the fleet numbering of inter-district transfers, in error Metro Kirklees renumbered them into their own series to follow on after their Regent V's and made them temporarily 4202-4206, until they were instructed to give them their old numbers back. Quickly blacked by the Huddersfield crews they were soon transferred to Calderdale District at Halifax, finally moving to Bradford District until their withdrawal. Here 874 is seen in High Street, Huddersfield en route for Brackenhall, whilst carrying its 'wrong' number 4204.
