Seen at the Templenewsam terminus before returning to the Corn Exchange terminus in central Leeds is Middleton bogie 268, complete with a badly set destination display - it going nowhere near route 12 on its journey to Corn Exchange.
It was the last of the class to remain in service, being withdrawn on 27th September 1957, some nine months after the withdrawal of the previous one, 262. It was one of sixteen Middleton Bogie trams new in 1935 and entered service on 9th February 1935. Eight (264-271) were built by English Electric on Maley & Taunton Swing-Link bogies and seated 40/30 with straight staircases on the nearside whilst eight (256-263) were built in similar style by Brush Electrical Engineering Co., following 255, the prototype, with offside staircases, which had been built by Brush in 1933. Just visible in the foreground are the remains of the wartime storage sidings.
