Horsfield 209, seen here in Vicar Lane en-route to Lawnswood was, for some unknown reason, being diverted from its normal route via New Briggate and Briggate to travel via Vicar Lane, New Market Street and Duncan Street to join its normal route in Boar Lane.
209, which had entered service on 28th August 1931, was unique in that it seated 44/23 rather than the 37/23 of the remainder of the Horsfields. It had been new on 28th August 1931 with the standard seating and was modified to have 2 + 2 seating in both saloons c1935, rather than the standard 2 + 1, making it 44/28, but by 1942 those in the lower saloon had reverted to 2 + 1, making the seating 44/23. It was withdrawn on 28th March 1959 and burned in Lowfields Road Permanent Way Yard on 4th July.
