West Midlands P.T.E. bought a number of elderly PDR1/1 model Leyland Atlanteans from Kingston-upon-Hull City Transport in 1975. 6345KH, seen here in Dudley on 5 June 1976 carried a Metro-Cammell H44/31F body and had been new to Hull in June 1960.
Whether these buses were bought to replace inherited buses not suitable for one person operation, or former Midland Red stock inherited with Midland Red's West Midlands based bus service operations, I am not sure. 6345KH continued in use until at least 1978, by when it was 18 years old, suggesting it took W.M.P.T.E. at least a decade, from its formation, to rationalise its fleet to satisfactorily meet its needs.
