Highland Omnibuses CD2, WST501, was one of a batch of Bedford VAS1s with Duple Midland DP28F bodies which were delivered in 1964. Originally numbered C23 it was changed to CD2 to reflect its diesel engine.
These were the first of this chassis type to enter service with Highland, a type which later became quite numerous with the acquisition of much of the fleet of David MacBrayne in 1970 and 1971.
