Joseph Wood, Mirfield 28, FYS689, a Leyland Royal Tiger Worldmaster RT3/1 with Weymann/GCT B44F body, new in 1956 to Glasgow C.T. (LS18) as B40D.
Acquired by Wood's in 1965 it was rebodied with a Plaxton Panorama Elite C45F body in 1971 by which time it had been modified with many Leopard parts and sported a Leopard badge. It later ran for Tower Coaches.
Seen here in Long Causeway, Dewsbury on what appears to be a short working of the operator's Mirfield route. Savile Arms being just beyond Wood's garage I would imagine it would then be running in.
The Dewsbury-Mirfield via Ravensthorpe, Savile Arms and Knowle service was also served by Longstaff's and Yorkshire Woollen, with a twenty minute frequency between them during the day and taking an hour for the round trip, such that each operator ran one bus on there, and always at the same number of minutes past each hour. It was technically not a joint service though, YWD stubbornly refusing to officially acknowledge Wood's and Longstaff's involvement and only showing their own hourly trip in their timetable, and whereas YWD operated their journeys from their Bus Station opposite, the independents had to make do with terminating in Long Causeway.
