XGA17J, LA519: GCT bought 822 Atlanteans and 16 Leyland Panthers all with Alexander bodies between 1962 and 1973.

Representing the intakes around 1970, the fad at the time was for two-door OMO double deckers. The exit doors were seldom used and disliked by crews and passengers and were eventually removed and a bench seat fitted in the space. The orange dot was to indicate that the bus was OMO. "Lazy" destination displays were meant to make the driver's duties easier!

To the left in the photograph is the area where the new First Glasgow bus garage is nearing completion today. Notice that the bus is operating with the front doors open. I couldn't possible comment on that!
