A rather care-worn 1106, not long for this world, stands at Scotstoun terminus with crew, conductor and motorwoman, posing for the camera. This batch of trams was officially known as "Standard Double Bogie" cars and were the nearest equivalent to LCC E/1 cars.
The bodywork on this 1928 example was by Hurst Nelson and the bogies were manufactured by English Electric at Preston but were completed at the Kilmarnock Engineering Co. and were forever afterwards referred to by enthusiasts as "Kilmarnock Bogies".
These trams retained the longitudinal seating in the lower deck fitted during wartime to increase capacity until 1106 was withdrawn in June 1961. 1115 can be seen as a static exhibit at Crich.
