New in September 1949 to Ewer (Grey Green), London N.16, KLC247 was a Leyland PS2/3 with a Harrington C33F body. It is seen here with Mulley, Ixworth,to whom it passed in April 1961, and is carrying the Corona fleetname, a relic of the ex-Corona London service.

This Leyland PS2 Harrington new to Ewer's Grey Green fleet in 1950 was one of five bought by Mulley's Motorways in 1961. The different fleetnames Mulley's used were those of companies taken over, in this case Corona of Acton, Sudbury. Seen here in Colchester's late lamented Bus Station, it was on the regular Sunday evening bingo run. KYH44 lasted until July 1968.

LLY852 had the third Harrington Wayfarer body built. The C41C body was mounted on a Leyland PSU1/13 chassis, the fifteenth Royal Tiger to be built, and it was new in November 1950 to Ewer, London N.16 in whose Grey Green fleet it is seen at Ascot.

Seen at Ascot having been new in February 1951 to Ewer, London N.16, LYE187 was a Leyland PSU1/15 Royal Tiger with a Harrington Wayfarer C41C body. Companion coach, LYE 186, new at the same time had a PSU1/13 chassis.

The other hired Leopard coach was Southend 204, 432FXX, ex Grey Green Harrington example, also seen outside St Christophers School. It was later fitted with blinds and was used on stage services in times of dire need, usually crew operated as it did not have a power door.

One of the more unusual vehicle hires in 1976/7 saw Ensign Bus loan two elderly coaches to Southend Transport. One at least (205, VDB915) had bus doors but the other, seen here, was former Grey Green Harrington bodied Leopard 432FXX, with a manual door. In theory this meant it could only be used crew-operated.

Grey-Green JHV497D was a Harrington Grenadier C45F bodied Leyland PSU3/3RT Leopard. Although a Grenadier it had the Cavalier windscreen and front dome incorporating the destination displays. There is a shot on the site of JHV494D where the lower panel has also been replaced by that from a Cavalier body.

Apart from a Bedford OB bought in 1960 and a VAL14 bought in 1967, 1974 was the only year in which Bedfords joined the Dearneways fleet. As well as those which came with the Fretwell business, four former Grey-Green five year old Plaxton Panorama Elite C45F bodied VAM70s were acquired (WLT581-4G). WLT581G, seen here entering Sheffield Central Bus Station on the evening of 27 June 1975, with the iconic Park Hill Flats in the background, stayed the longest, being withdrawn in 1979; the rest went in 1978.
