I was recently reading the discussion of Ken Aveyard's image of East Midland D171, 171NVO, parked outside the Company's Worksop depot/Bus Station.
Mention was made of buses being parked outside the building in Hardy Street. It prompted me to post this picture, taken in Hardy Street in April 1973, which illustrates that parking arrangement. At the time, if memory serves me correctly, the allocation was 60+ vehicles (possibly 62) and the building simply could not house all of them at once, and function as a Bus Station and Vehicle Maintenance facility. The maintenance area had only two pits and it was quite common for two vehicles to share each of them, in order to keep the vehicles in working order.
147ENN was one of East Midland's first Leyland Atlanteans, when it took to the road in March 1960. It was a PDR1/1 model and had a Weymann L39/34F body. After EMMS had finished with it, the bus passed to Coleman at Leverington in West Norfolk in March 1976 and was still with that operator in 1982.
