ROD765 proved to be a survivor. When new to Devon General in February 1956, it was an early example of the AEC Regent V MD3RV, with the smaller 7.7 litre engine (Chassis No. 036).
A fairly lightweight Metro-Cammell Orion H33/26R body was fitted, at a time when minimising fuel consumption was the order of the day. Escalating fuel prices and the Suez crisis were strong influences.
When Devon General retired it in 1968, Red Rover of Aylesbury bought it and ran it for around ten years. It was subsequently acquired for preservation and was still appearing at rallies in 2019, restored to original condition.
