Cumberland 278, HRM698, was one of twenty-two Leyland L27/26R bodied Leyland PD2/1s new in 1949. A further eight, HRM 703-710, were sold to Crosville, Chester without being delivered to Whitehaven. They became Crosville M583-590, later DTO583-590, and retained their Cumberland registration numbers.
