Barton, Chilwell 981, 981VRR, seen here at Ascot Racecourse, was an A.E.C. 4U3RA Reliance with a Harrington Grenadier C51F body, with the shallower windscreen of the Cavalier in order to accommodate the destination display.
It had been new in June 1964 and was withdrawn in 1974, passing to Tizard, Birmingham in July 1974; to Edwards, Joys Green in April 1975; to Dean Forest, Joys Green in February 1982, but not used, and then to Wacton (dealer), Bromyard in May 1982, before passing to Blue Ambassadors Jazz Band, Barry in June 1982 and then to Caerphilly Crusaders Jazz Band, Caerphilly around February 1985..
