HEL210D had been new in 1966 as Bournemouth 210, and was a Leyland PDR1/1 Atlantean with a MCW H43/31F body, becoming Continental Pioneer, Richmond R16 “The Countess”when acquired in January 1981.
It was one of several of their buses which were operating a London Transport Rail Replacement service from Putney Bridge Station – although it was not destined for either Spain or Portugal on this journey !
