The last weekend of April 1951 sees the rear of Belfast Red Tram 156, looking the worse for wear, with Queens Road displayed on its indicator blind as it crosses Queens Bridge en route to the shipyard at Queens Island Belfast.

Plenty to keep the tram enthusiast happy in this Belfast shot. The foremost tram is McCreary car 398 with the indicator blind set to Springfield via Grosvenor Rd whilst the car moving in the opposite direction gives us a glimpse of the lower deck's routing board which shows Via Bedfo(rd Sq.).

Belfast 69, CZ36 was a 1932 built AEC Regent with Park Royal H52R body and was withdrawn by Belfast Corporation from passenger service in 1943 but was converted to a lubricating wagon with fleet no. LW29 in 1946 and worked in that role until 1953. This shot was taken during the last weekend of April 1951.

Belfast 88, CZ4616, was a 1934 built Dennis Lancet with a Burlingham body that was rebodied in 1949 by Harkness B31F. It which remained in service with Belfast Corporation until withdrawal in 1956.

Farrans of Colchester real veteran was this Dennis Lancet, CZ7010, new to Belfast Corporation in 1935 as their 99, but rebodied in 1951 by Harkness. It was withdrawn in 1956. The contractor was involved with building new barracks at Reed Hall, Colchester.

A recent visit to the Keighley Bus Museum revealed a number of buses which, until now, have not featured on our site. Belfast 168, GZ8532, a Guy BTX with a Harkness H36/32R body dating from 1949, is a new arrival pending a long-awaited restoration.

Belfast 322, MZ7420, was a 1950 built Guy Arab III with Harkness H28/26R body and was later moved on to Citybus in 1973, withdrawal coming in 1975.

Leyland demonstrator OZ2233, was a 1950 built Leyland PD2/1 with Leyland H30/26R body and was on loan to Belfast Corporation as their 350 during 1951. It was sold later in 1951 by Leyland to Londonderry and Lough Swilly who ran it for 24 years
