After buying 24 single-deck Daimler Fleetlines in 1965, Birmingham City Transport turned to AEC for its next single deckers, taking delivery of 18 Swifts with Metro-Cammell B37D bodies in Autumn 1967.
This rear view of KOX673F, taken outside Selly Oak garage in June 1976, after the bus had been assimilated into the West Midland P.T.E. fleet, shows the unusual styling, which appears to have employed an emergency exit more usually found on Metro-Cammell double-deck bodies.
