One of Birmingham City Transport's 24 pioneering single-deck Daimler Fleetlines, BON470C, is shown here at Evesham - presumably on a private hire - under West Midlands P.T.E. ownership in August 1973. The 37 seat body was built in 1965 by Marshall of Cambridge.
I imagine Birmingham persuaded Daimler to produce these for standardisation with its double-deck fleet. Daimler must have thought it was a worthwhile idea, as they went on to offer a single-deck version of the Fleetline, designated SRG6, to other operators and ended up selling another 331, as far as I can establish.
