Leyland 7RTs were popular acquisitions by independents when disposed of by London Transport and former RTL31, JXN354, seen at the Parkhouse Stance, Ardrossan, had found its way to McKinnon, Kilmarnock (A.1. Service) around March 1958 and was withdrawn in January 1968.

JXN366 (London Transport RTL43) dating from 1948 was acquired by A1, Ardrossan (Owning member - Docherty, Irvine) in 1958. In late 1963 it was converted by a local coachbuilder to H32/25F and is seen here approaching the terminus at Stevenston.

Owned by Docherty, Irvine of the Ayrshire Bus Owners (A1, Ardrossan) it had been acquired in 1958 and was converted to front entrance in late 1963.

It had been acquired in June 1956 from Bird's (dealer), Stratford-upon-Avon, was withdrawn in August 1963 and sold to Martin Reid, Saltcoats for scrap in 1964.

Seen in the bus station in Ardrossan, is Hunter, Dreghorn (A.1 Service, Ardrossan) 16A, DCS616, which was a Daimler CVD6SD. New in November 1950 with an Irvine C35F body, it had been rebodied in March 1958 with this Massey H33/28RD body.

A recent picture of DCS616, new in November 1950 to Hunter, Dreghorn (A1, Ardrossan), this CVD6SD had an Irvine C35F body. It was rebodied in March 1958 with a Massey H33/28RD body, being converted to open top in 1988.

Midland Scottish DCS616, a Daimler CVD6 built in 1950 with Massey O32/28RD bodywork. This had been new to Hunter of Dreghorn, a member of the A1 Ardrossan group, and was used by Midland for Stirling tours.

Docherty, Irvine (A1 Service, Ardrossan) NTF9, the Leyland PD2/15 with a Leyland H30/26R body new in 1951, which Docherty acquired in December 1956, having been a Leyland demonstrator with a pneumocyclic gearbox, was seen in Stevenston.

NTF9 was the only example built of the Leyland PD2/15 model. It had a pneumocyclic gearbox and, although built to the 27' length, was built as H30/26R as were the majority of the PD2/10 and PD2/12 models with Leyland bodies and NTF9 remained as such.

A 1 service Leyland PD3/2 with Alexander H72F body built in 1962 was originally TSD285 but has appeared in recent years with two other registrations. Seen at Kilwinning at a Country Fair, the body is almost identical to Glasgow's PD3s (apart from the interior seats etc.), and was probably "tagged on" to the GCT order.

In another strange co-incidence, WCS195, A1 Service AEC Regent V/Strachan H35/28RD body from 1963 has been preserved, but in this view in service on a rather quiet run through Ardrossan. The bodywork is certainly distinctive.

Hill and Patterson, a member of the Ardrossan based A1 Services Co-operative, bought this AEC Regent V in 1963. One of a trio delivered to members of the co-operative; all carried this unusual and rare Strachans bodywork. WCS195 is seen at the 1981 Harrogate Transpennine Rally.
