Aldershot & District 557, MOR604, was an AEC Reliance MU3RV which had been rebodied in 1967, along with 14 other classmates, with the Metro-Cammell B40F body seen here.
The 15 rebodied vehicles had been part of a batch of 25, which, originally, had been fitted with Strachans C41C bodies when new in 1954/55. Those which were not rebodied remained in service until 1968.
When Thames Valley and Aldershot and District merged, on 1 January 1972, to form Thames Valley and Aldershot Omnibus Co (trading as Alder Valley) all 15 rebodied vehicles transferred to the new company, MOR 604 becoming 361 in that fleet. It remained in service until December 1976.
It went to Twell (dealer), Ingham in January 1977 before being acquired by a school in Stotfold in March 1978 and then a school in Bedford in 1982. By December 1987 it had become mobile living accommodation and had been re-registered BGS 705A. It was in use as a support vehicle for a mobile cinema unit for a while in the 1990s and returned to being mobile living accommodation by November 1997. It was last reported as such as recently as March 2024 in Kirkby Stephen.
