JR1792 was a Ford with a Robson B20F body new in May 1934 to C. Moffitt, Acomb.

Believed to be the only surviving Ford BB bus, David Lawson 62, SN6524, was first licensed in January 1935. It carried a 14-seat body by James Martin of Kirkintilloch and was one of six BBs for Lawson in that year, three buses and three coaches. When Lawson’s were taken over by Alexander’s in 1938 it was allocated fleetnumber O21 but was soon withdrawn as it was considered non-standard.

I stumbled on this Ford 570E in those streets inland from Clacton bus station but not as far as the Wash Lane Coach Park. This C41F was delivered new in January 1960 to Boyes of Low Moor, Bradford (just south of the City Centre) with cherished registration SKY777 and had brought Bradford City Supporters Club for, I imagine, a game at Clacton.

Highland Omnibuses T14, SSA471, a 1960 Ford 570E with Duple Yeoman body, was new to Simpson, Rosehearty, and reached Highland in 1967 via Alexander (Northern). It was originally C41F, but was converted for one-man operation by Highland, losing two seats in the process.

From new these coaches were in Bourne & Balmer livery and were photographed outside the Bourne & Balmer Coach Station in Dingwall Road, East Croydon. This lovely building was demolished and replaced with an office block with a tunnel underneath which became the coach station.

Ford were the last big company to offer full size PSV chassis only doing so from the late fifties. One of the early purchasers of the marque was suprisingly Yorkshire Woollen who took a small batch with Duple coachwork in 1961. 871, GHD215, shows Yorkshire Woollen's gothic script fleetname used on coaches. It is a Ford Thames 570E and has recently returned to the rally scene after further restoration

An unidentified Dartford Tunnel cycle bus at one of the loading ramps, one of a fleet of five Ford Thames Traders with Strachans bodies seating 33 upstairs and carrying 23 bikes downstairs. They entered service in November 1963 and ran through the tunnel largely empty until October 1965 when they were replaced by a Land-Rover with trailer, on call for use as required. The five were registered 526FJJ to 530FJJ.

Following the acquisition in 1970 of Jersey Motor Transport by Bob Lewis (who already owned TMS) and the relaxation of Jersey's strict 7'6" width limit, this was one of eight Ford's transferred to Jersey from the mainland in 1971, followed by two more the next year. This bus was re-registered J43161 on Jersey.

With a view to converting further services to OMO, Highland Omnibuses took delivery of two Ford R192s with Duple Midland B45F bodies in May 1968, to be followed by two more in the September of the same year. One of the earlier pair, T18, HST49F, is seen at Fort William Bus Station wearing a new (short-lived) version of the livery introduced that year but replaced in 1970 by peacock blue and poppy red. All four lasted until 1981.

Paton Bros JHS228K, a Ford 1014 with Willowbrook C45F bodywork, stands in the sunshine at the depot after coming off service on the Paisley to Renfrew Ferry route. It was bought new by Patons in June 1972 and passed to Western SMT with the company in August 1979 although it was never operated by them. It eventually became a caravan and was licensed until 1994.

The Isle of Cumbrae, in the Firth of Clyde, can boast two operators for one main supported service between the town of Millport and the ferry terminal, for a population of around 2,000. CSJ364L was a Ford R1014 with Willowbrook C45F body which entered service in 1973 with Millport Motors. The island is popular with cyclists of all ages, this view has only one! as the bus makes its way to the Millport terminus at the old pier. The other operator is appropriately "Cumbrae Coaches"
