A later vist to Canvey, Leigh Beck saw me driving Southend Transport 246, JVW561, a Daimler CWA6 with Duple H30/26R bodywork new to Benfleet & District in 1944 and later converted to OT30/26R by Southend to operate the sea front services.
I had just completed a special needs school contract from the Basildon area for one of the Southend independents whose vehicle had broken down, 246 being the only SCT vehicle available. To say it was a different experience is perhaps an understatement!
