Wolverhampton 715, NJW715E, a Daimler SRC6 with Strachans B54D body new in 1967.
After a trio of Reliances, Wolverhampton chose AEC Swifts and Daimler Roadliners for the first proper move into one-man-operation, six of each arriving in 1967. During the summer, an OMO experiment was carried out using some of these buses on ex trolleybus service 1 to Tettenhall over a period of four weeks. Wolverhampton had seperate rotas/staff for many services and it fell on the existing Tettenhall rota staff to carry out the experiment. On week one, the buses were worked as crew buses, on week two, they became one-man-operated but the conductor travelled on the bus with his ticket machine to assist if neccessary. For weeks three and four, the buses were totally OMO and the conductors sat in the canteen.
The service then reverted to normal DD operation and the new buses were parked up. Following much negotiation, they took up the role for which they were really intended, on the various 'country' services operated by WCT later in the year.
