1. JN962
The earliest vehicles in the Westcliff fleet when Brian first became familiar with it just after the war were two double deckers JN961/2. There were originally three, JN960/1/2, delivered in 1931, and this photo of JN962 when new shows them to have been Dennis Lances with highbridge bodies typical of the period.

Westcliff acquired a batch of 6 Dennis Lances from Brighton Hove & District, five for use on works contracts, the sixth open top for sea front use. Here is a not brilliant shot of NJ5979 outside Fairfax Drive depot after working a contract journey to the MEC site at Shellhaven.

Ex Brighton and Hove tree lopper NJ5978, a Dennis Lance with AEC radiator. It was new as B&H 6315 in 1935 with a Tilling body and bought by Westcliff in December 1949.

Dating from 1948 is GAA629, Aldershot & District 993 which was the last of six Dennis K3 Lances new in 1948 with East Lancs L25/26R bodies. Seen at Guildford (Farnham Road) Bus Station the fleet number was not carried until June 1950.

Seen in the summer(!) of 1961 in Guildford Park Road, Guildford, just approaching the pedestrian access to Guildford railway station, is Aldershot & District Dennis Lance K3, GOU824, delivered in October 1949 with L25/26R bodywork variously described as being by the Yorkshire Equipment Company of Bridlington, an East Lancs offshoot, or by East Lancs itself.

Aldershot & District GOU825 was a Dennis K3 Lance which entered service in 1949 carrying an East Lancs L25/26R body.

Dennis K3 Lance GOU843 with East Lancs L25/26R body new in May 1950 started to carry its fleet number 143 shortly afterwards. It was caught in Guildford (Farnham Road) Bus Station with one of the rebodied 1944 Guy Arabs behind.
